CdS fine
In Italy, most fines such as speeding offences are regulated in the Codice della Strada (CdS), or the Road Act. Article 196 of this law contains the so-called solidarity principle, which provides that the rental company may designate the renter of the vehicle as the person responsible for the fine.
The term limit for designating the renter of the vehicle is 60 days. The request is sent to the governing body that imposed the sanction, such as the local police department.
